Black History Month (February 2025) | Call for Artists
In 2025 we’re holding space for Black History Month from February 11 – March 9. Curated by our local Black History Month Collective, we are inviting submissions for an exhibition that provides an opportunity for conversation and connection, to be held in the Eve Smart Gallery.
All visual artists of African descent are invited to submit a proposal with a one-page artist’s statement, a CV, and up to five samples of their work (.jpg files, no larger than 1MB please) to info@gpag.ca. All proposals are due by November 30th, 2024. Selected artists will be notified by December 20th, 2024. An honorarium will be offered and artists may choose to list their work for sale during the exhibition. If an artist sells their work a commission will apply (60% to the artist; 40% to GPAG). Depending on the number of submissions received, GPAG may choose to expand the exhibition space or to limit the size of the artworks displayed. For more information about this exhibition please email Lesleypacific@gmail.com. See our past Black History Month Exhibitions, previously held in Joe’s Lounge, by artists Ezmina Samaroo (2024), Teri Ejere (2023), and Denise Brown (2021).

Joe’s Lounge Submissions for 2025 now open to November 15, 2024
Joe’s Lounge (formerly, the GPAG boardroom) is our newest exhibition space named after GPAG benefactor, the late Joe Peters of Gibsons. The vision of Joe’s Lounge is to provide a non-juried, low-barrier exhibition space for members of the Gibsons Public Art Gallery to exhibit their work. It’s the perfect space for emerging artists or those with a smaller body of work. In 2024 exhibitions in Joe’s Lounge were offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In 2025, due to a high amount of interest in Joe’s Lounge Exhibitions, exhibitions will be offered on a lottery basis. Exhibitions in Joe’s Lounge will be approximately three to four weeks long. Artists working in all mediums may apply.
Please read the full submission guidelines before applying online by November 15, 2024. For more info please email info@gpag.ca.
The inaugural season of 2024 exhibitions in Joe’s Lounge is generously sponsored by Russ Qureshi and Jon McRae of Coast Lifestyles Network Realty.

2023 Tiny Art Gallery – Guidelines
We encourage local and visiting artists of all abilities to contribute and donate to the tiny art gallery. This is a free exchange (similar to a tiny library); you bring in a piece of art and exchange it for one of your choosing. Pieces are not juried, but are selected for display at the discretion of the Gallery. Donations of tiny artworks (without exchanging) are also welcome.
The size is limited to six inches by six inches maximum and can be either 2D or 3D. Please ensure 2D work is ready to hang.
The Tiny Art Gallery is located in the front west window of the Gibsons Public Art Gallery and will be open for exchange during gallery hours and visible 24/7. Drop by and have a look. Take photos and share on social media (tag #gpagart).
In addition, we will be featuring a ‘tiny’ artist exhibit each month (for four weeks duration) in a side window. To be featured, artists should apply to info@gpag.ca with your name, contact information (including email) and information about your artwork (type, size, genre). Artists do not need to be GPAG members, although membership in our gallery is a wonderful opportunity and is strongly encouraged. Applications to be a featured ‘tiny’ artist will be on a first come, first served basis. The size limitations for pieces apply and there is room for three to five pieces of art. These art pieces will be available for sale, if the artist so wishes. We also strongly encourage the featured artist to donate a piece to the Tiny Art Gallery for free exchange. Note: featured artists and work may be identified in gallery promotional materials.
