JOB TITLE: Gallery Administrator Assistant

Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) is seeking a Gallery Administrator Assistant to assist in day-to-day operations of the art gallery and giftshop through the summer. Applicants must be proficient in English writing/speaking skills, have the ability and desire to engage with the public, visitors and exhibiting artists, and possess strong interpersonal and computer skills. Experience working with cash and point of purchase sales machines, plus an interest and/or experience volunteering or working in a community venue or art gallery are valued assets.
Applicants must be hirable based on Canada Summer Jobs criteria. Applicants must be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have official refugee protection status; and be legally entitled to work under provincial legislation.
The successful candidate will assist with daily art gallery operations: planning special events and exhibitions, website updates, communications and marketing, gift shop operation, gallery maintenance, art library and book sale coordination, etc. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
The Gallery Administrator Assistant will work 30 hours per week for 8 – 12 weeks from June to August and must be available to work most weekends. The position pays $17 – $20 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
