TIKO KERR | Motion Pictures

In Motion Pictures, Tiko Kerr explores the instability of visual credibility in an age of digital refinement. As images become more persuasive, our ability to trust what we see is increasingly compromised, making us increasingly more vulnerable.  His work asks: How do we see? Why do we believe?

The installation features Neo-Cubist abstract forms suspended within a Plexiglas niche. These elements remain static until activated by the viewer’s movement, drawing on Gestalt principles of perception to reveal how meaning shifts with perspective. The viewer’s body becomes integral to the work — a lens through which visual relationships are continuously reconfigured. Kerr’s methodology, “Seeing in Pieces,” is rooted in collage, reflecting the fragmented and contradictory nature of contemporary experience. It embraces the tension between accident and control, coherence and disruption.

While AI can simulate perception, it lacks a point of view. Human discernment — shaped by emotion, memory, and embodied experience — remains essential. This work affirms the value of that perspective, inviting viewers to engage, interpret, and co-create meaning through motion. Tiko Kerr’s overarching message is that living in this extraordinary but uncertain global moment requires that we all must take action and participate fully in the issues that truly matter like never before.
