Support the Gibsons Public Art Gallery

Why Support Us?

We are an independent non-profit public art gallery located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). GPAG is in the heart of Gibsons Landing on the Sunshine Coast, BC.

Originally founded in 2003 by a group of dedicated volunteers, since the beginning, GPAG has thrived on a legacy of passionate community support!

In 2012 we moved into a landmark property via the bequest of longtime volunteer and friend of the Gallery, Eve Smart. Today we offer a professional-level exhibition space for artists, regular free events, a space for local artists to sell their work, and affordable art classes for kids and adults alike. Each year, we receive an average of 18,000 – 21,000 visitors, making us a vital cultural hub and tourist destination.

Our small-but-mighty public gallery does not receive operational funding from the municipality or province. It’s a challenge we rise to, supported by our community, by sales of artwork, project grants, and by donations both big and small.

In the summer of 2026, we embarked on a significant building repair project to protect and restore our beloved original 1960’s building for the community. The current budget is $650K and we have raised $355K to date. The repairs are thus proceeding on a priority and phased basis until all funds are in place.

Your support means everything to us. A dedicated year-round space for art supports local artists, boosts our economy, and adds value to our community.

GPAG is an incorporated registered charity: #BC 0001 87728-7201

Tax receipts are issued for all donations over $25.

Ways to Support Us

Donations are gratefully received any of these ways:

    1. By cheque payable to Gibsons Public Art Gallery and sent to PO Box 1576 Gibsons, BC, V0N 1V0
    2. In person, at the Gallery (cash, cheque, credit, debit). Our regular hours are Thursdays – Mondays, 11am – 4pm.
    3. Using PayPal, credit, or debit online.
    4. Via e-transfer from your bank account using Gibsons Public Art Gallery as the contact and info@gpag.ca for the e-transfer. Include your name and postal address in the message option for your tax receipt.

When you donate, you may choose to do so in remembrance of a friend or loved one. This is a wonderful way to honour a special person in the inspiring context of local arts & culture. When you support GPAG with a gift in memory your donation not only honours your person, it becomes a gift to the whole community.

You may also choose to make a donation to a specific fund or program; such as to the GPAG Building Repair Project, the Pat & Murray Drope Fund, the Friends of the Gallery endowment, or to programming and/or the area of greatest need at GPAG.

Interested in making a donation for one of these purposes? Fill out our online form and donate by e-transfer, PayPal, debit, credit, cheque, or in person at GPAG.

A gift of securities is a powerful way to transform an asset into an enduring gift to your community art gallery. Donating publicly traded securities (stock, bonds, segregated funds or mutual funds) gives you the advantage of eliminating the capital gains tax that becomes payable if you were to sell the appreciated securities on the market. Your gift of securities entitles you to a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution.

Transferring securities is simple and efficient to do directly through GPAG’s financial advisor and brokerage. Find more information and the transfer form online.

A gift to Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) through your estate plan is a wonderful way to build a legacy. This future gift is an extension of your current commitment and support – one that will ensure our future stability as a free public art gallery. There are several ways we can recognize and honour your gift and legacy including special donor acknowledgements to naming opportunities (for example Joe’s Lounge (our members’ exhibition space) named after local benefactor Joe Peters). We would be pleased to talk to you about preferred options as you consider your estate planning.

If you have made or intend to make a future gift to GPAG, please take a moment to complete this confidential form and return it to us. Should you have any questions or to discuss your gift or recognition options, please contact GPAG.

If you are a collector who wishes to downsize, make space for new treasures, receive a charitable tax receipt, or pass along your artwork so that a new person can enjoy it — or if you are an artist who needs to clear some space in your studio — consider supporting the Gibsons Public Art Gallery and our Artwork Sales/Donation Program.
