TIFFANY BLAISE | Eternal Horizons
Dynamic landscapes capturing the essence of BC’s coastline explore an intrinsic connection to the natural cycles of the season. In Eternal Horizons Tiffany Blaise uses layers of ink and paint, each layer built on the last, with spontaneous and intuitive brushwork to capture the spirit of the landscape. Blaise’s paintings unite the physical landscape with the world of the mind, exploring the ties between the natural world and human nature. Cycles of birth, evolution, and decay relate to the fleeting seasons of life and express essential truths about the nature of the human experience. The viewer is invited to immerse themselves in each painting, to feel the power of each place and to experience the changing of the seasons.
Vancouver based artist Tiffany Blaise explores themes of movement, introspection, and transformation through the natural world around her. Informed by Chinese Art of the Song Dynasty and the Hong Kong “New Ink Painting Movement”, each painting begins with gestural ink brushwork and washes of fluid acrylic pigment to express a mood; bold, romantic, and dreamy. Delicate veils of oil paint are layered over the ink to balance textural detail with the evocative and ephemeral. Blaise holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University and the University of Victoria, and has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions in British Columbia, Ontario, Oregon, and Australia.
