BOB EVERMON | We Are the Eyes of the Stars

Bob Evermon’s exhibition We Are the Eyes of the Stars speaks to what can be sensed beneath the layers of visual art, as well as to the little moments in life that catch one’s attention. Evermon’s work is anchored in natural forms, line, colour, structure, and beauty. He explores the depth and poetry of visual language, translating stories that we draw from nature into his works. We Are the Eyes of the Stars also explores the consciousness of the universe and our role as its timekeepers, as well as our attempts to make logical sense of our lives and our attempts to map or record them for posterity.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Bob Evermon works primarily in the field of printmaking.  Originally from Iowa, USA, Evermon received a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and a MFA from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and became a Master Printer in Lithography through Tamarind Lithography, Hollywood. Evermon has shown his work throughout the United States, as well as in Canada at the Pendulum Gallery, Richmond Art Gallery, Toronto Art Museum, Equinox Gallery, Burnaby Art Gallery, Toronto Art Gallery, Bau-Xi Gallery, and at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery in 2014. Throughout his career Evermon taught at six different art schools and universities, including the Cranbook Academy of Art, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, University of California, the Banff Centre, and at Emily Carr University as a professor in the Fine Arts Department for over 30 years. Evermon was also the first president and a co-founder of the Malaspina Printmakers Society.
