ART CRAWL AT GPAG

Join us for the Art Crawl at GPAG! For the first time ever, we are excited to be showing the work of 12 GPAG Member Artists throughout the Crawl. An annual and much loved self-guided tour through artist studios and workshops, the Art Crawl transforms the Sunshine Coast into one huge interactive art show for three full days. Featuring paintings in a variety of styles, photography, mixed media pieces, textiles, sculptures, and more, plus a gift shop featuring over 60 local artists, our busy location in the heart of Lower Gibsons is the place to be.

Myron Jones creates small-scale minimalist watercolours influenced by our landscape on the west coast of BC, using watercolour and graphite to capture the effects of light and weather, and Corinne Barber’s vibrant acrylic local urban landscapes are cheerful and nostalgic, with an aim of creating a sense of joy in the viewer. Charlene Stallard’s oil and mixed media paintings express feelings of openness, freedom, and warmth, combining realistic and abstract elements to express emotion. Abstract mixed media painter Sheri Peters is inspired by the beauty of nature, her work relating to our observations of the world in relation to ourselves.

Inspired by the nature surrounding her in the Pacific Northwest, clouds, trees, and oceanscapes feature heavily in Tara Barker’s oil and watercolour landscapes. Also inspired by nature, Janice Edmonds seeks to share her perspectives of landscapes, seascapes, and florals. Rose Clarke’s eco-printing practice involves using fallen leaves and flowers to create unpredictable prints with the intrinsic pigments of the plant material, each piece unique and co-created by Clarke and by nature itself.

Drawn to found moments, Alan Sirulnikoff’s photography captures that brief second in which many elements come together to produce a composition that couldn’t have been predicted. Brian Cullen’s work includes photographs and found objects, investigating how we impart significance and value both to objects in our lives and to the work of artists; and Jane Covernton’s photography and digital art practice focuses on the idea of being attentive to our beautiful earth, its beings and its places.

Emily Jew’s sculptural mixed media practice includes working with wire, with paper as both a decorative and structural element, and with bookbinding; in some multi-media pieces, all of these elements are married. Textile artist Jennie Tschoban began crocheting before the age of ten, and has been creating a variety of things with yarn and needles ever since then, including hats, blankets, dresses, and more.
