With Sunshine Coast School District 46 Indigenous Learning

Salish Weave is a large private collection of contemporary Coast Salish art commissioned by collectors George and Christiane Smyth. The Collection weaves together the distinctive art form, designs and style of established and emerging artists. While building the collection and personal relationships with the artists, the Smyths sought opportunities to raise public awareness at large through education. In August, 2020, School District 46 Indigenous Learning Team gratefully received two sets: Box II and Box IV of prints of works from the Salish Weave Collection. Included in the collection are prints of works by contemporary Musqueam artists Susan Point and Kelly Cannell, as well as K’omoks First Nation artist Andy Everson, and Maynard Johnny Jr., of Kwakwaka’wakw Nation and Coast Salish heritage. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to share in the gift of Indigenous learning.
