Preparing for the Potlatch is about coming together to explore art as community. The growth, expression and sharing of art is communal and a collective representation that also honours the person practicing art. If we support and celebrate the creation, the work of the artist, it is a gift we all receive, and the art as visual story is our story.

In 2024 our popular annual members’ exhibition Present Tense will be held June 27th – July 28th. All GPAG members are encouraged to submit one piece of their artwork in any size or medium to Present Tense.

Join us for happy hour at GPAG to watch six local artists at work! Artists will create from 4pm – 6pm while guests mingle, watch and learn. At the end of the session one lucky name will be drawn and the winning guest will choose their favourite Luck of the Draw piece to take home! All other works will be available for sale until the end of the Present Tense Members’ Exhibition (July 28th). Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non-members (available at the door). Free snacks; cash bar. You must be in attendance to win the door prize (approximately 6:15pm).

In collaboration with the Coast Cultural Alliance, join us for an afternoon of art and celebration and to learn more about the Purple Banner Program! We will begin with a panel featuring Purple Banner artists Jan Poynter, Sandy Kay and Pam Horner, who will share their experiences and insights, a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from these talented individuals who make the Purple Banner Art Tour a vibrant and enriching experience. Following the panel, attendees will have the chance to mingle with the artists, enjoy refreshments, and celebrate the thriving arts community on the Sunshine Coast. In the spirit of the Purple Banner, we encourage everyone to wear something purple to show their support and enthusiasm for the arts.
