An interdisciplinary artivist, denise allen uses traditional mediums such as drawing and painting with ink and graphite, collage, and linocut printmaking to play with high contrast and negative space. Allie Bartlett combines the traditional medium of analog photography with an experimental approach, soaking her film in a variety of solutions before development in order to create physical special effects. Laurie MacHale is an interdisciplinary artist who finds joy through crafting and creativity, working in a wide range of mediums including acrylic, watercolour, mixed media, pottery, and fibre arts.
From salvaged discarded plywood and wood beams, resin, and acrylic, Crystal Boeur creates cut out artworks based on the salvaged materials unique shape, exploring the interface between the natural and human worlds. Showing a series of salmon spawn paintings inspired by her interest in the natural world around her, Hilary Moses is drawn to watercolour because of the unique way in which it responds to paper.
Touching on themes related to theatre, identity, and interpersonal relationships, Saskia Jetten employs the labour intensive, slow processes of traditional printmaking techniques to produce her unique hand printed shawls and scarves. Manon Staiger’s mixed media paintings and ceramic works draw upon the clean lines, repetition of form, and tactile qualities associated with Asian and northern European art and cultures. Nadina Tandy’s mixed-media works speak from an otherworld and subconscious, channeling primal forces of nature, acts of resilience and cycles of renewal through layered pieces with objects, words, and figures obscured or revealed.
