Introduction to Paper Arts: Toys and Magic Books

iPads and X-boxes are a blast, but what do you do when you don’t have them? You make your own toys! This week-long course is for the curious and creative who want to make their own playthings with paper. You know what I’m talking about! Cootie Catchers, Flip Books, Spinners, Pop-Up Cards, Rolling Balls.

2D and 3D Collage Arts
10:30 AM – 12:30 PM Ages: 9-12 (10 hours)
Come explore the elements of design through the awesome art of paper collage! Using a variety of papers and techniques, you will create beautiful landscapes, distorted images, plant holders, and unique three-dimensional storage boxes for art supplies.

Let’s Make a Book!
1:00 – 3:00 PM Ages: 9-15 (10 hours)
Calling all creative tweens and teens! Here’s your chance to design your own notebooks out of recycled materials. Explore a variety of techniques – stamp, stain, crumple, ink, tear, layer – and then sew it all together, including pockets and tuck spots. Got a theme? Great! Collect your own images and make something truly individual. What will it be? Wizards? Antique Cars? Tropical Islands? Sports Stars?
