The Fabric of Our Lives is an interactive experience by Sunshine Coast artist Mieke Jay that places participants within a world of texture, light and imagery using immersive video projection.

A site-specific install in the main and Eve Smart spaces fills the entire gallery with imagery that relates to community. Textures from the metaphorical fabric of our lives, include repeated hands holding and the organic and beautiful patterns that make up the natural world.

The exhibition’s custom-made imagery offers dynamic movement while also leaving space for stillness that will inspire visitors to create their own kinetic interactions with their shadows and the light.

Visitors to the space will have the opportunity to move within the projection, experiencing the imagery both surrounding them and on their bodies.

Mieke is multi-media artist of european decent, born and raised on the west coast and currently living in xwesam (Roberts Creek) with her family, gratefully on the unceded traditional territory of the Skwxwú7mesh and shíshálh Nations.

Her projection installation and performance art focuses on collaborative works featuring dance, movement, video, live music and interactive elements.
